Fond Farewell is pieced per the directions on page 38 and Foundation Patterns on page 112 OR Paper Pieced using the Supplemental Packet offered at Patched Works.
Julia says: With most paper piecing, you want to sew to/off the edge of the paper to secure the seam, but with this block many of the seams start in the middle of it. Even though the line for the piece may end in the middle of the block, you still want to sew about 1/8” to ¼” past in order to secure the seam.

Kelli says: Because of the number of pieces, it is quite helpful to label where everything will go.
Lisa K says: For this block I think it is really helpful to use a definite Light, Medium and Dark along with a background to really be able to see the pieces in your finished block.
We encourage you to take pictures of your blocks and upload them to our Loyal Union Sampler Flickr Group. If technology isn’t your thing, bring your blocks into the shop and we’ll snap a picture of them and upload them on your behalf.
