Loyal Union Sampler Block D-2 Emancipation

Emancipation is pieced per the directions on page 36 OR Paper Pieced using the Supplemental Packet offered at Patched Works.

D-2 Emancipation

D-2 Julie Q Julie Q – Scrumptious by MODA

Julie Q says:  I paper pieced this block and it went together quickly.  I ironed all my seams open so my block lies flat.  Here’s your fun fact (or nerd alert note) for today:  It is not a good idea to mix starched and non-starched fabrics in a project.  Why?  The fabrics will work and react differently with each other.  And once you starch your fabric you should use steam to press it.  One important note:  starched fabrics scorch easier than non starched fabrics, even when your iron isn’t on a high setting, so be careful!  Allow the starch to dry before pressing to avoid flaking.  We have MaryEllen’s Best Press in the shop and it’s my favorite.  The bottles are clear so you can see how much you have left and it’s a starch made specifically for quilters!

D-2 Lisa Lisa – Lario by MODA

Lisa says:  This block was a fantastic place to use my Lario Paisley Print.  This was an easy block to put together, all of my points came out perfectly!

D-2 Stephanie Stephanie – Downton Abbey

Stephanie says:  Have fun with the color combinations!  There are enough stars in this quilt that you can experiment on some unique pairings.
